Early this week I bound off my shawl and spent the better part of a day applying the crochet edge. I added a 4-part braid to either end for a tie, those are fairly wobbly looking but I think with a little practice they'll turn out nicely next time. As you can see, there's just a whisper of green left and not terribly much natural. It took the entire bed for blocking and 3 or 4 days to dry.
The weather has been unusually cool the past few days so I was able to wear it a bit last night before the giant blast of heat descends today. It's fantastically comfortable to wear and I can see that in really cool weather it will keep your sides nice and cozy and you can tuck in your arms as well if it's really chilly. I adore the crochet edge but I've seen some with sideways borders that look fantastic too so I have thoughts of another. Perhaps a little dye session is in order. The pattern is the Traditional Danish Tie Shawl in the Spring 2008 issue of Spin-Off, I used a size 5 needle and about 1100 yards of handspun worsted singles in cormo and cormo/romney.
