    St. Distaff Day

Westford_museum St_distaff_left St_distaff_right Tarragon_bobbin_2Yesterday afternoon I took my wheel and spun along with many other lovely ladies at the town museum St. Distaff Day event.  I filled up a second bobbin with Tarragon's roving before my fingers were too cold to function any longer. I seldom seem to make it out to spin with a group and that makes me a bit nervous when I do. I've never had really any spinning lessons (other than a fab intro from Mme Purl) so I'm always sort of waiting for someone to tell me I'm doing it all wrong. Nevertheless, I always seem to learn so much when I do get out to spin with a group. This time I learned that a stretchy drive band works fine for me in single drive but it's not good at all for someone with a double-drive wheel. I also learned that I seem to be using some sort of a long-draw variation for spinning, who knew?
