Using size 8 needles, cast on 8 stitches and knit until piece is long enough to go around the V, bind off leaving a long tail for seaming. Weave in short tail and trim. Fold lengthwise and fit around the strap, seam up along inside edge and weave in and trim tail. Attach button.
