Sculpture

Water Airsharks Chicken HeartsWe both really loved the DeCordova sculpture park yesterday and the weather cooperated beautifully for that part of the day. We did get rained on at the Farmer's Market in the afternoon so we abandoned the spinning demo part of our day and just did a quick tour to buy lovely veggies and things. I don't think I've mentioned so far but there are loads more pictures of all the things we've been doing here on Flickr for the stout of heart.

Cat blankie

Cut Ties GabSunday night was pretty rough as my niece was sick every hour on the hour all night long so we abandoned our Monday plans and opted for a restful day at home. Spotting some fleece in my fabric stash she decided a new kitty bed was in order and we promptly whipped out a hand tied cat bed for Gabby. It was immediately put to good use!

MFA

Bench Boy Rosegarden BrownsugarNext up in our library pass extravaganza was the MFA yesterday morning. We printed off some kids activities and had a scavenger hunt of sorts. We searched for chocolate pots and dogs and later mummies. I quite enjoyed this portrait of the artists son which apparently employed a revolutionary technique whereby the child was portrayed as a child rather than a miniature adult. Afterwards we walked across the park to lunch at the Brown Sugar Cafe, a favorite of ours (though Emma was not terribly impressed).

On a side note: I've lost all my Google Reader subscriptions and am trying to rebuild them today. I would greatly appreciate comments with links to your blogs if you would be so kind as to leave them. I would hate to miss anyone's posts!

Zoo Visit

Pacing Flamingos NapWe are taking full advantage of the library passes for the week my niece is visiting. I reserved a different pass for every day that she is here. Yesterday we visited the Stone Zoo. I hadn't been before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I'd heard it was small but we all thought it was very nicely done for a small zoo and we quite enjoyed it.

The Beach

Ball Shelling Crabroll IcecreamYesterday we finally made it out to the beach. Several times we've tried to go when my niece was visiting but this is the first time it finally worked out that no one was sick and the weather was decent. We stopped at our favorite Lobster hut for lunch on the way home. I was still a wee bit under the weather so I skipped my usual fried shrimp and went for a crab roll instead, delish!

A visit to Lowell

Stuffiesofdoom Circles Rps WheelWe brought my niece home to visit with us for the week and I borrowed a friend's daughter for the day yesterday. We visited the quilt museum in Lowell and the Revolving Museum afterwards. Pictures are not allowed in the quilt museum so we can't show all the fun quilts we saw there.

NYC

Grandcentral Carosel Empirestate ShushiyasudaWe spent the past few days in New York City where Jason had a conference to attend. I was under the weather for the entire trip but I still managed to get out and about a bit and Jason had yesterday off to spend with me. I did feel well enough for an amazing dinner at Sushi Yasuda.

Breakfast Vermeer Chinatown Shopping Despite being fairly ill I did manage to squeeze in many great sites. I never did find Habu having noted the wrong address on my list but I did visit Gotta Knit and Bead World. On our last day in town I had a fab chocolate croissant at Balthazar.

Ouch

PeteandjoeI always forget to take it easy when sandal season commences. It gets hot out and I forget to shave my legs so the only way to stay cool is to walk in my birks. This is the third year in a row my inattention has gotten me a lovely pair of blisters. Curses!

Cozy

615cozy 615soundasleepSurprise, surprise! I actually have been wearing my new shawl a bit. We had a few cool damp days and on the really hot days it can get chilly in the house before my hair dries. If I want it I have to fight Gwen for it. I think she's in love! Jason tried to move her and she told him in no uncertain terms that it's her shawl and she's not getting off it.

Hickory dickory dock

OuchSometime last fall my car air conditioning stopped working. It being fall I didn't really worry about it but the recent heat wave reminded me that it might really be nice to look into that. It was time for an oil change anyway so last week Jason dropped the car off and asked them to recharge the a/c for me. At first the mechanic thought I needed a new compressor but a little (okay a lot- as in much disassembling and reassembling of bits) of investigation turned up this chewed wire. He reckons a mouse got into my engine and chomped this little wire thus cutting the power to my a/c. We've been advised to put mothballs into bags and stash them a few places around the engine to prevent further such occurrences.
